Welcome

Pastor and Susan

Susan & Pastor Mike

Welcome to First United Methodist Church. My wife, Susan, and I look forward to growing in faith and serving God with you. We are in our 6th year serving here. Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to share a little about the ministry of Christ at Watauga.

As members of the body of Christ we rejoice and serve in the way of Jesus, healing in the grace of God, and growing in the completeness of God’s unconditional love. We are engaged in mission and ministry as disciples of Jesus Christ. In the path of discipleship, we worship God, learn of and heal in God’s grace and mercy, and are sent by God embodying the ways of Jesus to transform the world. As United Methodists we are connected in this mission.

Experience the love of God. God has called us into life with purpose. Growing in faith requires the commitment to worship, to live in community, to study the scriptures, and to reach out to the world. We have focused opportunity for all ages. We offer worship on Sunday mornings at 8 am and 10:30 am. At 8 am, we meet in our chapel, providing an intimate setting for Traditional worship. At 10:30 am, we meet in our sanctuary in blended Traditional and Praise worship. At 9:15 am we offer Sunday school for all ages. We set aside special Bible studies throughout the year. Our Youth meet on Sunday afternoons. This year our Youth-in-Mission traveled to Arkansas for a week. Our team provided hands-on-help during the days and focused their spirits in worship during the evenings. In the last 4 years we have twice sent adults to Belize to help build a high school. Four years ago we began a ministry to feed low income children with weekend snack packs. We focus this ministry in cooperation with local schools and hand out about 90 snack packs (food for Saturday and Sunday) per week. At Christmas we provide gifts and food for low income families also identified through the school system. Our Shepherd Shop Mission Store is a thrift store in its 17th year. It provides clothing, linens, and such to people in need. And there is still “work to be done in the city”.

As you can see, we are a church longing to make a difference in the name of Jesus Christ. Know that Christ is calling you to grow in your faith and serve in His Name. May we have the privilege to walk with you in this journey!

Thank you for sharing your time with us. If we may serve you in anyway, please contact me at the church office by phone at (817) 485-0312 or through email.

Grace in the name of Jesus Christ,

Pastor Mike and Susan
