First Methodist Church is committed to excellence not only in the church family but also in the community. It is our responsibility to provide leadership and give back to the community as much as we possibly can. In recent years, FUMCOW has participated in or led many successful events from a Back to School Back Pack Rally, Vacation Bible School, 3K, 5K to Raise money for Mission to Belize, Missions to Russia, and Homeless shelter.  We are excited to list the following events FUMCOW will be participating in over the upcoming DAYS and MONTHS of 2018.

Local outreach

This school year, we are collecting food for the Weekend Food Ministry for Children - We are serving 60 or more children Three meals (“snacks”), each day of the weekend in an area elementary school. We need your help with food donations or money to purchase food. Our supply of food is in constant need! There is a donation jar in the hallway as you come in if you forget to purchase food. Please pick up a required food list to help keep the meals uniform, in the Narthex or here. And Thank You for all you do!

The UMW is collecting “Boxtops” from products to give to area schools to provide Underwear for “Emergencies” at the schools. This is a real need! Contact Doris for more information.

Mar. 3rd-4th

30 Hour Famine! - Youth Group - Youth will begin fasting at 2am Saturday morning. We will be working at the food bank. The youth will arrive at the church at about 2pm March 3rd and we will drive to Tarrant food bank to help.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of students in the U.S. — and thousands more around the world — unite through World Vision’s 30 Hour Famine to feed hungry children and families.  30hour famine is a way to raise awareness and financial blessings for those in some of the poorest areas of Africa. Many of us do not have to wonder where our next meal will come from, unless we are deciding between two different fast food chains. We don’t have to walk for miles to get water and carry it miles back to our village every other day.

We are so blessed, and we should bless others.
